What role do the Lib Dems have to play in UK politics after the election that saw a failed attempt at a Lib Dem comeback? The answer is that they have no role.
If you want a party of crippling higher taxes on the great, hard-working people of this country – you have Labour.
If you want a party that wants to reincrease the growth-sucking tax burden on our precious businesses that create so many jobs in this country – you have Labour.
If you want a party that will spend so recklessly that it would make your stomach churn, leading to even higher taxes – you have Labour.
I could go on.
The only thing distinguishing the Lib Dems from Labour during the election was their desire to crush Brexit.
A month on, with 80% of people voting for a party backing Brexit, the Govenment now have a mandate that destroys the Liberal anti-Brexit trump card.
Now, they are nothing but Labourites dressed in yellow.
The Liberal Democrats have no role to play in a Brexit UK. They are incompatible. They are finished.
